BELLAMY DESPERATE

The Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has said that he is extremely desperate to help the team achieve promotion to the Premier league this season. The Welsh striker is regarded as one of the best players in the division due to his experience of playing in the top competitions like the Champions League. The 33-year-old, though, is coming to the end of this stellar career and he is keen to go out on a high. Despite having a lot of years on paper, the striker has struggled with a lot of injuries. The Cardiff manager Mickey Mackay has carefully used the striker to the club’s advantage.

Cardiff City have been the team to beat in the Championship this season. They have suffered just one defeat in more than two months of football, which has seen them open a six-point advantage over Hull City in the table. Bellamy has so far made 17 appearances for the team in all competitions – most of them coming on as a substitute – and has scored four goals. The former Liverpool and Manchester City striker reckons that he has to provide more goals for the club in the future. Cardiff can now only focus on the league after exiting the FA Cup in the third round following the 2-1 defeat against Macclesfield Town.

“Craig has got a desperation to play for the club at the moment. He’s been enjoying his football and when someone is enjoying the game you see it in them. He’s got over his couple of knocks and he’s got match fit. These 90-minute performances from him now, these are the signs that he is getting up to speed. That’s big for us. I think when you see a player closing down in the 85th minute the way Craig does then it is just unbelievable,” said the Cardiff manager.

EXPECTING MORE

The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that he is expecting even more good things from the team in the forthcoming matches. Mackay has said that he can see that the team is on the brink of going on an extremely good run of form because they are playing with a lot of confidence. The team has just managed to win nine home matches on the bounce, which has helped them to take on Crystal Palace in the table. This incredible achievement came after the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough during the weekend. Following this match, they will be facing Barnsley and Derby before welcoming the former manager Dave Jones and his Sheffield Wednesday team.

Even though the home form has been excellent for Mackay and his men, the away form has not been so good as they have suffered three consecutive defeats against Nottingham Forest, Bolton, and Charlton. Mackay is hoping that this slide will be arrested starting with the match against Barnsley after which they will face yet another away match against Derby. Away from has been a major letdown for Cardiff this season, as they have conceded a lot of goals. Mackay has identified this area as one to improve if they are to win promotion automatically this season.

“We look at that run at the end of last season and that is something we know we are capable of. The results away have not been what we might have wanted, but I don’t think there’s been a time when we have been totally out of a game or well beaten. We have always been in there. The key is for us to cut out errors and to improve, most importantly, out final decision making,” said Mackay. Cardiff will be looking to open an advantage over the likes of Leicester and Middlesbrough.

CARDIFF LOOK FORWARD

The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that he is looking forward to a relentless run from his team in the next few matches, as they target promotion automatically from the Championship. Cardiff city have come extremely close to getting promotion to the Premier league, but have failed on each occasion in the last few years at the play-off final. However, they are now looking favourites to win the Championship, which will guarantee them promotion to the Premier league automatically. After the splendid 4-0 win over Burnley during the weekend, the manager Malky Mackay said that he wants a relentless from his team over the next few weeks.

Cardiff city came into the match against Burnley having lost just one match in the previous four. Now, they have extended that excellent run to just one defeat in the last five matches. It has put them three points clear over Leicester City at the top of the table. Even though the Cardiff manager acknowledged that the team should not get carried away from the early season form, he has said that they need to put in another great run over the next few days in order to give some advantage over the chasing pack.

“If you start thinking like that you’ll get carried away. We’re up there after 13 games, which is fantastic. We’ve got to keep being relentless, keep being monotonous, keep working hard, keep studying the game plans, keep looking tactically at the opposition, train to a certain standard and the games will chop off. It’s a relentless league – I’ve been in it for years. It’s unforgiving and there’s a lot of games to go,” Mackay said after the Burnley match. The club will be facing the former Premier league opponents Bolton, who could have a new manager, next weekend.

HOPING FOR RED HOT START

The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that he is hoping to start the new season in red hot form. Cardiff city have failed to get promotion on a number of occasions in the last five seasons, but will be once again favourites to achieve promotion either through the automatic spot or the play-offs position. However, in order to be in the race for the promotion spot the end of the season, they need to start the season extremely well. It is something that has been acknowledged by the Cardiff manager Malky Mackay, who has said that he is hoping for a red hot start to the new season.

The arrival of the Malaysian owners coupled with the changing of the colours of the club has certainly infuriated a lot of the fans. However, the manager has said that the club will be able to benefit from the significant funding provided by the new owners. He has said that due to the amount of money put in by the new owners, they will be looking to change a few aspects of the team, which will be beneficial for the club in the future. Cardiff will be facing the likes of Brighton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Leeds United in the opening few matches of the season.

“We want fans to come and support their team. Cardiff City still have a team because of the Malaysian investment. Every fan is important to this club. Cardiff City has been their team for 100 years and will be there team for another 100 years. Come and support the players as you did in such style last season. We are delighted to start a new season at home,” said the manager ahead of the match with Brighton, which by no means is going to be easy.

NERVOUS OPENING

The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that his side might have been nervous in the opening Championship match against Huddersfield town. Cardiff will be having a tough first few weeks of the campaign due to the fact that they will be facing the likes of Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first five matches. Before the start of the new season, the manager has said that it is vital that they begin the new season with great sharpness, but there was little of that to be seen in the match against Huddersfield town. However, Cardiff were rescued as a result of the last minute goal by Mark Hudson.

This gave the club all three points from the first match of the new season. Speaking after the match, the manager has admitted that the players might have been extremely nervous prior to the start of the first match, which could explain the reason for the poor performance. However, he has said that things will certainly improve in the second match of the season when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion. The rebranding of the club coupled with a number of other factors meant that there was an air of nervousness prior to the start of the match.

“Obviously it was a big evening against Huddersfield in terms of the way the summer has gone with the red and blue situation. It was the first game of the season. We had the Malaysian owners over and the game was live here and in Malaysia. It really was the curtain- raiser. There was probably quite a lot of pressure on the players so to keep going was good – and it’s always nice to score at the end,” said the Cardiff manager Malky Mackay after the 1-0 win over Huddersfield town.
