CARDIFF TARGET LEWIS

Despite the huge financial uncertainty surrounding Cardiff City at the moment, the club have revealed that they will be making Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis as their first signing of the season. It has been yet another disappointing season for Cardiff city after they lost in the play-offs once again. It has been a number of play-off heartbreak for the Cardiff city supporters. The club was eliminated in the semifinals of the play-offs by West Ham 5-0 on aggregate. In previous seasons, they managed to get into the play-off final before being eliminated. That has seen huge cloud surrounding Cardiff in recent years due to the uncertainty of the owners.

Even though they have said that they remain fully committed to the Cardiff cause, there has been little suggestions to indicate the same. However, the signing of Joe Lewis may just be the start of a new era at Cardiff. The goalkeeper is currently a free agent after leaving his contract to expire with Peterborough United. The 24-year-old goalkeeper is also at the right stage in his career to progress to much better things. Lewis was a £ 400,000 signing from Norwich back in 2008. He has been instrumental in Peterborough United’s progress of the league ladder.

Meanwhile, the owners have once again reiterated that they remain fully committed to the club. “I would like to reiterate the commitment, warmth and great affinity that remains for this club from Tan Sri Vincent Tan and myself. We have nothing but the best interests of the club and its supporters at heart and will look to conclude matters as soon as possible to the best possible outcome. I would also like to personally thank the many who have sent in messages of heartfelt support and appreciation, either directly or via the club,” said the Bluebirds’ chairman.
