Russell Slade feels there is space for Improvement for Club

Cardiff manager Russell Slade has admitted that the club needs to improve its consistency if they are to start moving up the table. After managing two victories on the bounce – albeit in different competitions, the team slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Norwich.

Slade has especially identified that the team has to improve a lot when it comes to defending. Norwich may be going through a good run of form at the moment, but Slade feels that most of the three goals could have been prevented. Indeed, Cardiff have one of the poorest defensive records in the division after conceding 38 goals in just 26 league matches.

In terms of scoring goals, they have not been spectacular but it has been enough to do the job. Slade has once again stressed that he has had to work with a limited budget since coming to the club. Continue reading Russell Slade feels there is space for Improvement for Club

Cardiff City 4 Consecutive Victories

From the month of October until November, Cardiff City played a total of 4 League Two home matches with all of them ending in victories for the team of Russell Slade but their latest home game was played against Rotherham in a match that concluded with a goal-less draw and supporters of the home team were disgusted by the result and the performances that the players of Cardiff City displayed.

The goal-less draw match between Cardiff City and Rotherham was played on December which finished off with supporters of the home side booing their team.

Ben Turner is a defender of Cardiff City and he stated that it’s up to the players to try and lift the spirits of the squad and their fans as the club is going through a number of problems outside of the pitch.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked not too long ago due to a string of negative results, Vincent Tan is going through a series of problems with the former coach of Cardiff City, Malky Mackay and there are other issues that are going on which seems to have affected the supporters of the Championship League club who are starting to boo at their own players.

The 26 year old English defender of Cardiff City Ben Turner believes that it’s in the responsibility of him and his teammates to start lifting the hope of their supporters.

“We were booed, but it’s difficult because how the fans are feeling is more than just about the 11 blokes they are watching. For me it has to be about what is happening on the pitch and the more support we get the better it is. Hopefully we will be cheered off next time. It’s up to us to get the crowd going, but it’s a different atmosphere to how it was when we were promoted last time’’ Cardiff City’s Ben Turner said.

Slade did market research

The owner of Cardiff City, Vincent Tan stated that before he appointed Russell Slade as the new head coach of the Championship League club, he investigated and asked people around the world of football concerning Russell Slade and if the English tactician could be the correct man to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was sacked from the coaching position at Cardiff City on September 18.

According to the Malaysian businessman, he said that all the feedback and comments he received concerning Russell Slade was nothing but positive ones and this was one of the main reasons on why he decided to select Slade as the new coach.

Russell Slade is not one of the most well-known coaches in England as he has only been in charge of smaller and less established clubs but Darren Fletcher is one of the figures in the world of football that knows very well Russell Slade as he was the physical education teacher for Fletcher at the Frank Wheldon Comprehensive School in Notthingham back when Fletcher was just a student.

“Russell has not changed as a man since the days when he was a PE teacher. We got on famously at school. He was a fantastic teacher, who knew when and how to show authority, but was always willing to have a laugh at the right times’’

“Russell and I have always stayed in touch. I was starting out as a young reporter when he was at Notts County and our paths crossed again. He is totally honest. A genuinely nice guy and I know I can ring him at any time for a chat or advice’’

The former Manchester United player Darren Fletcher said as he had nothing but concerning the newly appointed head coach of Cardiff City, Russell Slade.

Jones Praised By Solskjaer

Much of Cardiff city’s early season form has been down to the striker Kenwyne Jones, who has scored four goals in his 5 appearances he has made for his new team. The former Stoke City forward has now been praised by Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 29-year-old has not been playing full 90 minutes during this period and it was not until the 1-1 draw with Fulham last week that he finally accomplished this figure. The battle against the two relegated teams from the Premier League finished as a draw thanks to the equaliser from Jones.

This was after Hoogland had given the home team a lead in the 22nd minute. Jones has been playing for Cardiff since January of last season. However, he had managed only one league goal previously. The new Championship season appears to be bringing the best out of this physical striker. Despite suffering just one defeat in the last five matches, Cardiff are in danger of slipping out of the race for promotion. They are 9th in the table after five matches of the season. The superior form of clubs like Nottingham Forest and Watford already sees Cardiff trailing the leaders by a massive five points.

Solskjaer will be aware that the team needs to find the form quick enough to challenge for automatic promotion spots. “I’m very pleased with how he’s come back this season. He’s finally got his fitness back. We need him in the box, we need him to be a nuisance for defenders because he’s strong and he’s quick. He’s got everything a striker should have. We’ve been working on one deal that we hope to go through, if not my phone is going to be well and truly shut off,” said the Cardiff manager about Jones and his plans to strengthen the squad.

Cardiff City remain hopeful of holding on to Marshall

Sky Bet Championship club Cardiff City remains hopeful that they can keep hold of goalkeeper David Marshall despite the interest of several Premier League clubs.

It has been reported in the media that the Bluebirds have had to field enquiries about their Scottish shot stopper ever since their relegation from the Premier League but they retain hopes that the player will snub the advances of the Premier League clubs and remain in Wales.

The Scotsman was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League last season, and was arguably the most consistent player for the Bluebirds alongside the likes of Steven Caulker, Jordan Mutch and Frazier Campbell.

But despite his heroics in goal, Cardiff failed to retain their status as a Premier League and was relegated to the Championship after just one season in the top flight. He has been tipped with a big money move to a top club with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal all interested in the player.

Southampton has become the latest Premier League to inquire about his availability but Cardiff City remain confident about retaining the player they first helped secure his first taste of top flight football.

Arsenal has been widely tipped to make a formal move for the player any time during this transfer window for the Cardiff number one but it is expected the club will hold out for a significant transfer price, in the region of £ 15 million.

Although the former Celtic goalkeeper has drawn transfer interest, Cardiff City insiders have said that no club has come forward with a formal bid for the player but it is also not clear which clubs have asked about his availability.

Sources close to the ‘keeper has indicated he would be open to helping the club mount a challenge for the Premier League as well.
