BAD SEASON FOR FLETCHER

This is indeed becoming one of the worst seasons ever for Manchester United after they are set to finish outside the top four and also miss out on Champions League football next season. This was after the club were knocked out of the Europe’s Premier competition after suffering a 4-2 defeat on aggregate to Bayern Munich, who have gone from strength to strength in the last five years. David Moyes will be aware that it may even take United a few years to get back into the Champions League.

Meanwhile, midfielder Darren Fletcher says that most of the United squad is fighting for its future and that they need to step up their game in the remaining five matches of the season in order to earn their place in the squad next season. Moyes is expected to make significant changes to the United team with a number of players – especially the older ones – likely to depart. The likes of Patrice Evra and Ferdinand are expected to join Nemanja Vidic, while the future of star names like Ryan Giggs also appears unclear.

Robin van Persie is also linked with a move away from Old Trafford after apparently going tired of Moyes’ tactics. Fletcher only recently made his comeback from a long-term injury, and he is expected to stay.

“It is time to show the manager that you deserve to be at this club. Go and put in performances because the manager will be thinking of next season, no doubt about that. You have to make sure that you are one of the names that he still wants. If you get a chance to play, you have to go and impress the manager and show him that you are capable of being here next year. He will definitely look back on this season,” said Fletcher.
